Description

A large, lemon-yellow butterfly that is a strong flyer.  

Habitat

Can be found in almost any type of open area, including roadsides, open pine woods, open fields, coastal dunes and parking lots!

Flight Period

All year southward, moving northward as the season progresses.

Sennas (Senna).

Other Notes

Hundreds of thousands of individuals migrate northward in late summer, especially along the Atlantic Coast.  Large numbers of individuals move southward along the U.S.-Mexican border in southern Texas.
