Description

Aptly named, for the coral-red spots along the wing margins.

Habitat

Brushy, overgrown fields are the most frequent habitat, but this species can be found as well along streams or woodland edges with its caterpillar foodplants.

Flight Period

June-Aug.  About three weeks at any given locality.

Wild cherries and wild plums (Prunus).
