Description

The smallest butterfly in North America, with it's wings closed it would fit within the fingernail on your pinkie.  However, it's metallic-centered black eye-spots and beautiful blue-gray underside color and copper-colored upperside, provide outsized enjoyment.

Habitat

open arid areas, especially salt flats and disturbed areas.

Flight Period

Throughout warm weather.

Many plants in the Goosefoot family (Chenopodiaceae), especially saltbushes (Atriplex) and goosefoots (Chenopodium).
