Description

One of the most dazzling North American butterflies.  It's silvered underside spots gleam in the sun while the intense orange upperside has layers of color.  

Habitat

Open woodlands, scrub, gardens and disturbed habitats.

Flight Period

Throughout warm weather.

Passionflowers (Passiflora).

If you live north of its southern range, just wait a few years because this species is moving northward with climate change.
