Description

The wine-colored hindwing disk below separates this northwestern greater fritillary from all but some populations of Zerene Fritillary.  The prominent underside hindwing spots are, unlike most great fritillaries, unsilvered in most populations.

Habitat

Openings in and along the edges of coniferous forests and, sometimes, aspen woods. 

Flight Period

June-Septemeber.
